The International Toy Fair which celebrates its 70th anniversary in 2019 will again focus on new trend-setting toys. As one of the major exhibitors, the international Simba Dickie Group will be represented on a number of stands with over 20 brands and a diverse range of new products.
Under the slogan “Ready, Steady, Play!” the Toy Fair presents toys that get children moving. Supporting children’s natural inclination to move and promoting their healthy development – this has been part of BIG’s product philosophy for decades. The manufacturer of the popular classic BIG Bobby Car introduces sturdy new vehicles into the junior fleet in 2019. The new multifunctional BIG buggy as a combined baby walker, play buggy and Bobby Car trailer supports a child’s first steps from the age of 12 months.
The sporty BIG Scooter is both up with the latest trend but also comfortable and safe for young riders from age 18 months. The balance bike is a fun way to hone their motor skills and sense of balance, making them feel as though they are on an Italian piazza as they attract attention with the horn and engines noises provided by a sound module. The wheels coated with a wear-resistant premium soft material provide excellent road-holding. The ingenious BIG Cosy plastic sheet suitable for children aged one to five years can be used in a variety of ways: as a see-saw, spinning top, slide and storage place for toys.
And last but not least among the products at the Toy Fair, the toy car maker reveals a completely new interpretation of its toy and design classic of 1972 – the BIG Bobby Car Neo.
As a fun sports product, the red cult car, the BIG Bobby Car, has in the last few decades almost made it into the next category: “Toys 4 Kidults” – as the 2019 Toy Fair theme is entitled that encompasses new products where the target group is principally adults whose love of play has no age threshold.
Creative sets from Schipper, which this year celebrates the 50th anniversary of “Painting by Numbers” and offers a “Paint your Darling” pack in a jazzy Pop Art look, are just as much in demand as the sports car legend in miniature from Schuco. The cult brand presents a true delight for grown-up Porsche enthusiasts in the form of limited-edition, highly detailed 1:18 scale Porsche collector models with the amazing miniature edition of a 6-cylinder Boxer engine under the bonnet. Schuco also offers a Mercedes-Benz Unimog as a model kit in the 1:64 product range. The kit which comes in a neat cardboard window box along with assembly instructions and a screwdriver makes a perfect gift of car enthusiasts of all ages. The VW T1 “Schwäbisch Hall” advertising van from Schuco is a highly original, meticulously hand-crafted collector’s model. Available in two scale sizes, it carries a creative advertisement for building society savers and self-builders from the 1950s.
Adults with an interest in technical detail are also looking forward to new products from Carson, which brings railway layouts to life alongside the track with the remote control VW van. The VW T1 Fire Service and German Post vans are steered via an interference-free 2.4 GHz remote control unit. If not being admired in the display case supplied with them, their tight turning circle also allows them to make a few fun circuits on the desk.
Majorette also provides ideal opportunities for playing together. The French cult brand has created a superb city garage. The impressive size (128x78x73 cm) gives an idea of how many hours of fun children aged from three years can have with the amazing 7-storey “Super City Garage” with its six diecast toys, six different light and sound effects, lift, helicopter pad, police and fire station, railway station, filling station, traffic lights, road barriers and much more besides.
Children are equipped for any duty with the classic police-themed collection from Dickie Toys. The SOS range comprises emergency vehicles such as an ambulance, prisoner van or patrol car, designed with light and sound effects to create a realistic atmosphere for games involving robberies, prison breaks or traffic accidents.
Dickie Toys offers a smart toy in conjunction with a classic toy crane. With the newly developed crane, which is controlled via an app, children from age 6 become crane operators or head of their own construction company after a little practice and obtaining their operator licence. Loading and unloading areas are set out on a large play mat where containers and transport vehicles are available. The key feature:
the app specifies loading areas and material and the play mat recognises whether loading has been carried out in the correct place. In the professional mode, problems occur which must be overcome such as a burst water pipe or storm warning.
It is best for children and adults to deploy strategy and tactics and play “Tetris Duell” from Noris-Spiele together. The popular video game is experiencing a renaissance as a classic gaming board which is filled manually with 50 pieces, the Tetriminos, on a timed bases from two sides according to a fixed system.
Zoch has a magical new family game in its range with “Ab durch die Mauer” (Out through the wall). In the spooky surroundings of a castle in which ghosts dance through walls, a rotating game board with magnetic discs under it makes the game not only magical in a visual sense. With each move, ghosts can be shifted in different directions at the same time. Some move by themselves, others remain rooted but the floor moves beneath them.
Owners of ChiChi Love from Simba Toys learn to perform the duties of a good dog owner. Their plastic dog is fed with treats that have previously been created from modelling dough and then goes for a realistic walk with its young master or mistress.
