Environmentally conscious behavior is of high importance for the Simba Dickie Group. With a conscious, considerate and sustainable use of all applied resources we take on and try to cope with our responsibility to preserve our environment and all raw materials for future generations. One project in this field is the change to energy saving LED lighting.
For our logistic center in Sonneberg, Germany this project is financially supported by the Free State of Thuringia. This support is co-financed by subsidies of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The company Simba Toys GmbH & Co. KG is subsidized to change over to LED lighting in five stockrooms. The company Tamiya-Carson Modellbau GmbH & Co. will change over in its three stockrooms.
The existing lighting is partly with gas-filled lamps and can now be replaced. We expect to lower electric power consumption by 25% with a better illumination of the halls at the same time. The longer lifetime of LED lamps reduces both environmental impact that would apply by disposal and fire hazard. Gas-filled lamps have operating temperatures of up to 300°C. There is a risk that they burst and cause flying sparks. The operating temperature of LED is below 100°C.
